Be still and know that I am God

FutureAs we go through life we go through trials and tests that move us to doubt, that move us to fear that move us to wonder what God has in mind, we don’t always see the purpose of what we are going through, but God does. Who better than God can decide what is best for us?  If you are in one of those trials I would encourage you, as God is encouraging me, to be still, and know that he is God.

I used to pray for my will, but then I realized God has the advantage of knowing what is down the road for us, that we don’t. The dry spells we pass through  while following Him are really for our benefit, in a way we cannot see.  Because we are not omniscient, we do know what awaits us.  All we can know is that God is with us, and he will never leave us, nor forsake us.  So trust in God. Be still and know He is God.

Psalm 46

God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
Though its waters roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah

There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God,
The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved;
God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.
The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved;
He uttered His voice, the earth melted.

The Lord of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah

Come, behold the works of the Lord,
Who has made desolations in the earth.
He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two;
He burns the chariot in the fire.

10 Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!

11 The Lord of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah
